Junior Accountant

JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

Be the next member of our growing team at Browns Restaurant Group (BRG). We are a multi-brand restaurant company developing and supporting concepts within our corporate and franchise communities.

As Junior Accountant, you will report to and support the Corporate Controller in a part time role. You are detail oriented, motivated, and eager to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. You will assist with day-to-day financial tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of BRG’s accounting processes. This role is part time (approx. 14-16 hours per week, with Tuesdays as a requirement).

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Core duties include AR, AP, bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Accurately prepare biweekly pay run for Corporate and Store Entities.
• Calculate royalties and prepare Franchisee invoices.
• Review submitted expense reports, prepare journal entries and employee reimbursements.
• Prepare Gift Card reconciliation and reporting package
• File GST, PST and other Statutory filings.
• Support in cash management.

WHAT YOU BRING:

• Education and/or experience in accounting or pursuing CPA.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles (i.e. AP/AR, reconciliation, financial reporting).
• Proficient in Excel and comfort learning new systems.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all levels of the organization, and relevant external contacts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A proactive approach to problem solving and willingness to ask questions and learn.
• Proven ability to effectively manage change within tight deadlines.
• Meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Hospitality background an asset.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:

• Hourly rate between $25 to $45, based on experience.
