Enrty level jobs
you are here because you are looking for an entry level job, this is a basic guide to what jobs you might get what you might be doing at those jobs, how much they pay and how long it will take to gain skills. first you apply here on this job-site, then you get contacted by you employer for work where you will work as: Stock clerk, Fast food crew member, Dishwasher, Barista, Server assistant, Busser, Cleaner, Janitor, General laborer, etc...Β each of these jobs requires little to no skill and pays at least 18.25 an hour, sometimes more, but less is illegal. in order to work these jobs you will only need to know English and be willing to receive training, if you can do that work will be steady once you are hired. these jobs can be worked at a wide variety of time and there are many shift placements but the main one are 9:00AM-5:00PM, 11:00AM-7:00PM or 3:00PM-11:00PM. these times are not exact and they many vary dependent on the employer.
just because these jobs are low skill does not mean they are not demanding, often there will be long busy days and if you work in a restaurant fast food or otherwise as well as retail there will be bogo deal days (buy one get one) where many customers come to purchase. in many of these jobs the customer is you boss in addition to your manager, and you are responsible for the customer in a few ways (not many), an example would be: if you are a cashier and the customers debit or credit card wont work you are responsible for setting up the machine for them. or if you are stoking shelves it is you responsibility to help the customer navigate the store if they ask for directions. but at some jobs you will only have one boss. your manager will tell you what to do, and you must do it but remember your rights as a worker, and don't do anything that is genuinely unsafe.
if you can handle the stresses of a boss and the stresses of the customers, you should handle the entry level job pretty well as its not complicated. but it can get overwhelming very fast, so stay prepared. always pack a lunch and bring a water bottle and anything else you might need, you get one 30 minute break for every 4-5 hours you work, remember that and ask your boss about the details, don't be scared, your boss legally has tot tell you how the company works as it relates to you. i hope this can prepare for the job market in Canada, good luck.
